Anabella Aldana- Group Presentation Analysis
Group Presentation Analysis
🧠Group 1🧠
I was part of group one for this presentation. It was a new experience for me as it was y first group project in college as it is my first semester. There are many things I learned during this experience. Personally, I believe the chapters we covered were very important. However, after listening to the other presentation from groups two and three I believe they were just as important making this whole book an essential read for everyone. Not just if they are taking a public speaking class but to help them in their future careers as well. As we were group one we were responsible for covering chapter one through four. Chapter one was presented by Jessenia, Rem and Jaely. They covered everything about how to get over the fears of presenting, stating how you should consider that you most likely will not die from presenting and the worst case scenario is most likely that you fumble on a few words or forget some details. Chapter two was presented by Matthew and Kevin. They discussed the foundations of public speaking and the types of presentations specifically impromptu presentations. I presented chapter three along with Gabriella where we spoke about the purposes of speeches and preparing for a speech. I found it interesting to share about the different ways to brainstorm and organize your ideas when preparing and creating your presentation. Gabriella spoke about the purposes of speeches which include being to inform, persuade, and highlight. Chapter four was presented by Jessica, Darleny and Naomy. They spoke about different things to consider when preparing your presentation such as the knowledge level of your audience. This is important to know because you most likely not be speaking about an upcoming election or climate change to a group of preschoolers who do not even know how to red or understand what you are trying to present.
👀Group 2 👀
Following our presentation, group two had the responsibility to cover chapters five through nine. Chapter five was covered by Bryan and Alexander. They discussed the benefits and importance of research. They did a very good job of accurately summarizing this chapter and keeping the focus on the topic. There were a few things that stood out to me and that I will keep in mind for the next time I and researching for a presentation. For example, something that stood out to me was making sure that your source is reliable. Many times we find many sources but that does not always mean that they are reliable or trustworthy. They included questions to help verify our resources which will be handy for me in the future. Chapter six was covered by Mayla and Joel where they discussed the importance of organization within and throughout your presentation. They included the use of outlines which I have always found helpful in organizing my thought process. It helps the audience not become confused and, helps keep the flow of the presentation to keep them engaged and entertained. Chapter seven was covered by Tania and Kayli who spoke about the delivery of the presentation. Delivery is one of the most important parts of a presentation besides the actual information being presented. This is because you can have to best presentation with the best information but if you can not deliver it correctly the audience will not pay attention or even know what is being transmitted to them. They stated this begins with being bth mentally and physically prepared before the presentation. They also spoke about the five modes of delivery which are memorized, manuscript, extemporaneous, impromptu, and question and answer. After discussing these five topics, they spoke about how you can use your body and voice to help communicate information effectively. This included eye contact, body language, volume, and enunciation. Chapter eight was presented by Bryan and Kenny in which they discussed ethical considerations and tips on how to improve clarity and style within your presentation. They taught about how knowing your audience, simplifying your vocabulary, and providing cont3ext can help your clarity. They shared that ethics should be taken into consideration by using ethical language, avoiding exaggeration and oversimplification and using inclusive language. To finish of group three, Maria and Ana covered the benefits of using sensory aids and how to use them effectively in chapter nine. The benefits of sensory aids are that they engage multiple senses, demonstrates preparation and understanding and shows deepened understaffing and most importantly keeps the audience focused and interested. The aids that can be used can be photos, videos, and interactive demonstrations.
💪Group 3 💪
Group three presented chapters ten through the appendix. They started off with Amanda, Ashley, and Stephanie covering the principles of informative presentations, their purpose and how to improve. They stated that there are four skills that an informative presenter should have. These include defining, describing, explaining, and demonstrating. Defining the word helps the audience understand why the presenter chose the word. You can define a word by revealing its denotation, connotation, and etymology. This can also be done by providing examples and using synonyms and antonyms. Describing includes using specific and descriptive language to make the audience vividly aware of what you are talking about. Explaining the word reveals many things such as how something works, why something happened, or how something should be evaluated. Demonstrating is a visual representation of explaining it. Chapter 11 was presented by Amber and Bethany who spoke about persuasive messages. They shared how persuasive arguments influence the audiences opinions and views on an issue you may be presenting. This can be planned by analyzing the audience before your presentation. Finally they spoke about the three types of persuasive presentations which are to convince, inspire, or a speech of action. Chapter 12 was presented by Carlos, Javier, an Laura within this chapter they discussed about presentation for special occasions and how to prepare for one. These presentation have a different purpose, style, organization and formality. A presentation for a special occasion is organized differently than a normal, more informal presentation because they are less concerned with information dissemination and argumentation and are more concerned with setting a specific tone for the occasion. The formality is also different and you should pay close attention to the specific words and phrases you are using throughout. The appendix was presented by Adrian and Marc. This was a very important part of their presentation as it discussed presenting as a group. This was great to lear and listen to as this project was also a group presentation. I am sure this helped them with this presentation as well. They shared how working in small groups has many benefits such as making it less stressful for everyone since responsibilities are split, it can be more interactive, and more coordinated. They also taught that there are many types of group presentations like symposiums, panels, and debates. It is important to learn how to work in groups as it is essential in life including in careers.
💥Group Leaders 💥
In my opinion the class leaders did an amazing job in writing the introductions and conclusions for each group. It helped how they included and presented who will be presenting what chapters each person would he presenting and a small explanation to what they would be talking about later in the presentation. It was also nice how the conclusions further elaborated on the topics that were covered. This helped clear any questions I and the audience may have had.

Excellent writing and reflection! Great job!
