Project Reflection
Group One-
I was a part of group one; our group was assigned chapter one through chapter four. We all separated these chapters along equally and we all worked on our individual pages. Chapter one through four talks about the important things you need to know when becoming a public speaker. This chapter gives you tips on how to overcome your fears of presenting in front of a crowd, what to do and not to do while presenting and all the types of different presentations. Some of the most common things that happen to one while doing public presentations are shaky hands, we start to sweat even stutter, but we must come to terms that it is normal to feel nervous before presenting. It happens to everyone we just need to learn how to control that nervousness and turn it into something positive, think about it as just a feeling of excitement. Public speaking is an enhanced form of conversation, one of the best ways you can inform and win over the crowd of people you are speaking to is to keep it simple, keep it limited and keep it important. Don't overcompensate and just talk about the key points. By doing that you should talk about vital topics, current topics, and topics that your audience will learn something from. There's other things you should avoids such as talking about controversial topics these topics have been talked about so much that people are most likely tired of hearing them you should only talk about them if you have a new approach on it also illegal items like guns or drugs that could end up getting you in trouble and even suspended, and avoid using lingo because it might insult your audience and that's last thing you wants to do since the whole point is to connect with your audience and find common ground so there able to trust you and learn from what you're 'saying. The most important thing that an audience can do to respect the speaker is to actively listen and avoid distractions like being on your phone and talking to your neighbor. On the other hand, how to set up your presentation is another important thing, you need to learn your topic beforehand to be confident to be able to speak clearly and not stay quiet or forget what you were going to say. Focus on your message and words, use light humor and visuals to keep your audience entertained, use graphs and pictures to best describe what you are talking about.
Group Two-
This group talked about the benefits that you get from doing research, how it could help you and how you can correctly find the material. Doing research always benefits you, you learn new facts and information you use in everyday conversations, the right research strengthens the points you want to make. Don't only focus on one resource, try to find information from multiple sites and analyze the credibility of those resources to make sure that the information you are talking about is true. Your method of moving from one point to another, of telling the audience where you are in the overall presentation, where you are going next, and where you have been, is the glue that holds your presentation together. Transitions, signposts, internal previews, and internal reviews allow the audience easy access to the information you are presenting. You could also talk about personal experiences, look for information in your local library, also the internet since that's where we get most of our information there. Being organized while presenting is very important, this makes your audience understand better, this would make them able to trust your information more, also makes the speaker seem more confident and it makes for a smoother delivery. You could use forms of outlining like subordination. This allows you to indicate which material is most important to least important, also division and parallelism which are other forms of subordination. The body of your presentation should have two to three main points these should have equal importance. How you deliver a presentation is very important, you need to be prepared with your facts beforehand using pauses for more of an effect. Don't make your speeches too long and use rhythm and tempo. From this group presentation I learned the importance of finding the right resources for what language to use and how to improve my presentation.
Group Three-
Group three informed the class Principles of different types of presentations, what purpose they serve, and how to improve. They taught us skills for different types of presentations, for informative presentations you should define, describe, explain, and demonstrate. They gave us examples on all of these skills and on how to practice these while doing a speech. They also spoke about some guidelines that we should follow such as double checking the information because of its better quality over quantity, also to be careful not to mislead your audience. Persuasive arguments you can't make arguments from reasoning, some examples that could help your reasoning are arguments about cause and effects, arguments form signs. You and your messages will be more persuasive if you have a long positive history. You want your speech to stand out, to make people want to keep listening to what you have to say, make sure your words have a deeper meaning to make people really think and analyze what you are saying. There's presentation to welcome Presentations to welcome are intended to set a tone for a larger event by inviting all participants-including other presenters and audience members to appropriately engage the event, and there's many more that they went over about which was interested to learn. They talked about the different group dynamics. How groups should divide the work and how to work as a team. Your group should agree on a topic, also assign the presentation roles and dividing responsibilities. Overall they informed the class about the different types of presentations and what purpose they serve, also about how to work as a group since thats really important to execute a good presentation, if your able to work as a group and present accordingly.
Really nice reflection!
